Anyone have any luck ordering a keyless go chrome NOT BLACK key fob from dealership?
So I ordered an additional key for my 2004 E55 over the summer which has keyless go, Key came in already programed ready to go and everything worked on it.. fast forward to last week ordered an additional key for my 2004 SL55 which also has keyless go and the key came in all black which I do not want. I wasn’t even aware that Mercedes still manufactured this key. So my question is has anyone ordered a chrome style keyless go fob from dealership successfully? And if not what was your experience if they told you only key available was black key fob? This is the part number they ordered for me that came in all black…

you don't need to order a chrome key if it's about the case
you can just buy a conversion case from China and insert your key board
I tried that with my '05 SL500 - it didn't work. I wasted money into thinking I would have the chrome
key fob for my car. Unfortunately, after numerous attempts to force it in, it will not fit.
I hope we can get more feedback on this from other members on here… it just does not make any sense that my 2004 E55 (black fob), I was able to order from the same dealership a few months prior a chrome style key for it but not for the SL55?
I ordered a replacement key 2 years ago and it was the chrome one, same as the one my SL came with from the factory.
When I inquired (same dealership) about a key for my W220 (black key), the SA said the same style was no longer made and it would be the newer chrome style.
Part numbers are superseded all the time, but maybe some old stock inventory was found and ordered by your dealer.

OK great information now what year is your SL? i’m going to guess it’s a later model…
So I’m starting to think nobody has a chrome style keyless go fob for their pre-2007 SL… I hope that’s not the case. The more members chime in with their feedback the closer we can come to a conclusion on this.
