Directions to remove trunk lid liner

I need to get to the back of the female rivnut that hold the license plate on. I have one that just keep turning. Can someone please provide me with accurate or a video on how to remove the trunk lid liner correctly without damaging it. I have a 2008 SL550. Thank you.
I heard the top needs to be down. Is this true?

My advise is dont remove the liner ! You can just pull down the front section easily. To do this, undo the two outer stop guides via a phillips screw.(They are marked L and R inside so you cant mix them up). Undo the 2 bolts at the lock and you should be able to pull down the front part of the liner to get to the licence plate.
