SL/R230: At what mileage or age do ABC issues show themselves?

On the front you can remove, rebuild, and replace the blocking valve that revents sag on that side very easily without removing any hoses. Not sure about the rear.

Just saw a video on swinging the rear valve block assembly out so it can be removed, but you don't have to remove it if you only want to take out and rebuild the blocking valve.

In my humble opinion, age has more influence than miles. The age causes the seal to harden and the rubber to swell and as this system has plenty of these components, the failures will come with the time..! But, if you like the system, rebuild and be happy...!

I own a 03 R230 that shows the occasional red ABC warning for a few seconds. Has anyone had any success finding a company/person who can rebuild the R230 ABC pumps? My independent tech has run pressure tests (mini version of a full rodeo) and has found that the pressure is slowly reducing after a few loading moments in the suspension. I was hoping that it was the accumulators, but he is suggesting that it is the pump. He also says that it is nearly impossible to find new pumps out there. Can they be rebuilt? Who does this kind of work?
Thanks

Delivery from Germany was straight forward. Zadow shipped it out by DHL the day after my order. The only hang up was that German Customs held up an air shipment container to do an inspection and that caused a delay. But the pump eventually showed up just fine.

High pressure line failure
For reference, mine just failed. 2012 with 40k miles. Does anyone have a link to repairing this on an ABC II car?
thanks

ABC pumps are just about impossible to find these days (anywhere) and anyone who has purchased a pump from outside of a German supplier can respond to the 'quality' of those rebuilds. From what I have heard the inside of the casing can actually start to wear and that is what creates a lot of the metal contaminant that ends up in the system.
Just replaced my 03 R230 pump with a Zadow Automotive rebuilt pump (they were recommended by a number of forum members on a couple of different MB sites) and it is working just great. I believe that they offer pumps for the ABC II cars as well.
You have to change the language setting to English once you get on their site, but other than that they are very easy to communicate with and the shipping was quite quick. This link should get you to the English 'shopping side of their website...https://abcteile24.de/en/.
Wherever you choose to source a replacement pump, a 'complete' flush of the system is absolutely critical as you will destroy the new pump if any metal contaminant remains in the system.
