Is it a difficult job to replace these? Are special tools or equipment required? Thanks!

It is not too bad of a job. You don't have to remove the needles, they can just be slipped in. Several videos around on removing and replacing. The only critical part is to get the ribbon cables lined up and locked in properly.

You don't need to replace the LCD screen. It's the polarized filter that goes bad. You can removed the bad film and replace with new for $15 from Amazon. I just watched the video on YouTube. Just Google R230 LCD $14 repair. Sorry I'm not savvy enough to share a link.

Well for what is worth, I did this fix today ( 07/28/2022}. It's not bad at all and for $14 compared to $ 195 it's a no brainer. Totally stoked with the results. My next move is replacing the command Screen. I found one on eBay for $127. My car is probably the cleanest SL in North West Florida. Zero dents or rust and just a few super small scratches.Once I fix the command screen the interior will be 9.95 out of 10. Just some discoloration on the drivers side bolster. When I treat it with leather cleaner that goes away for a week or two.
