Will it say if you have put to much engine oil in the instrument display?

When you are checking the oil level while sitting in the car and let`s say you have put in to much oil like half a liter willl it say in the text on the on the gauges panel/instrument pane that you have overfilled?

I wish you could get a dipststick for the engine oil that is not only to be used to check the oil level but that can be left in the dipstick tube.

If you put too much, It will gives you a red warning while you are driving. If it's too little, it will tells you how many qts to add to the max mark.

Guys, I didn't want to rely on a sensor to tell me that my oil level is low, so I filled my engine with the specified capacity of 7.9 quarts. Then calibrated a "modified" dipstick to know where the oil level is! Done deal.! No worries anymore!

Thanks for the reply. I have never had neither add or overfilled oil on my WSL R230 so that is why i ask.

I wish somebody could produce a engine oil dipstick that can stand in the oil tube.

elMacko. You know you can buy the engine oil dipstick "tool" for about $20 - $30. Check the picture below.

This dipstick is from pelicanarts

Dipstick tool that can not be left in the tube. Just to check your engine oil and then remove.

Brother Saint, I didn't know that..! Perhaps in my next R230!
What I did, I found in a junk yard an old Mercedes E-430. Took the dipstick for $5.00. Then when I filled the engine during an oil change, used a wire and measured the right oil level....then figured my junk dipstick was 2" shorter...So I cut it near the top, crimped a small SS tubing in both ends to produce the right depth and bingo!
