Looking to replace my defective 2009 SL550 command unit. Have access to used unit with VIN. Question - is there an Anti Theft i.e code requirement? Is there a work around?

Hello:

I did not replace my head unit with another identical unit. I replaced it with an android after market brand.

I am unable to change the car time as this is handled by the head unit. My CD Changer and CD Trunk Navigation system are useless (will likely remove and sell them at some point - or save to have a complete original car).

But I didn't have any issues with the security system when I made the change. Just my 2 cents. Again an older model and I replaced with a after market product.

To set the time after you change your radio just pull the fuse for the instument cluster. Do it at 12:00 as it will reset to 12:00.
I think it is fuse f 21 or f 22 in the engine bay drivers side. Its a 5 amp fuse.

I don't have to rely on my mechanic for that.
