Angry new trunk latch not working.

Hello all, I've been trying to repair my trunk latch. The original latch had leaks which I tried to repair. In the process I fatally damaged the latch, namely the white plastic container was mortally wounded with a large hole.I then ordered a replacement latch which also had leaks and I trying to repair them. However what I've noticed is the latch doesn't make the pump run or do a soft close even after replacing the fuse. If I manually operate the latch the pump comes on and the latch goes to the fully locked position. Do I need to repair the striker? Is there a way to view the latch in operation. My old latch made the pump work all the time. Is it reasonable to move the latest white plastic container on to the old latch?
The striker piece is at an angle and not straight up . It seems the striker isn't properly engaging the latch.
TIA

You can easily adjust the striker eye by loosening its bolts behind a small plastic cover.

When you say the latch is damaged are you just referring to the metal latch hook that interfaces with the car, or have you managed to resolve the issue by adjusting the hook plate ?

If you are trying to fix a leak on the white plastic bottle part of your actuator, then also check about 8 different other areas too, there are little ball bearings that can leak, the good news is you can seal them up permanently with a good epoxy.

Follow this video that explains where the leaks can occur, good luck.

Smile resolved

I ended up ordering a new trunk latch and installed it. It now works perfect! I can't even hear the pump run at all!
Hopefully it'll last a couple years.
