SL550 A/C codes
Hello all,
I'm currently trying to help a buddy with his 08 SL550 that he picked up for $4000... he got it cheap because the roof was broken and 168,000 something miles, anyways. I'm trying to help solve the A/C problem, the following codes are B1589 - Rotary Potentiometer for setting air quality at the left side vent. B1590 (Right side) B1587 which is the center vents too. We removed the center console trim and the ACC unit to see if there was a break in the connectors but no, everything checked out good. I was also able to control the actuators with SDS, but without the use of SDS the wheels do nothing. I've not taken that trim piece out before, and the Hazards do work, any feedback is appreciated thank you.

They have a common connector, it is possible it was disconnected at some point. Did you try clearing the codes or look at actual values if available? Those are fairly common codes and don't necessarily indicate a problem in my experience.

Hi Mike, I just cleared the codes and did a test, they instantly came back. I watched the actuators function then they stop. Code B1270 came up which is the sun sensor error... Unplugged, plugged it back in again. I'll scan again over the weekend.

Just an update, only got round to looking at the 550 today as I was adding some goodies to my 55. I cleared the same codes again; I'm just wondering if the passenger SAM could be the cause of this as that was unable to connect with my SDS, I did read that it's connected with the A/C. we're kind of stumped, another assumption would be to remove unit itself and inspect for damage, try to figure out why the wheels on the dash do nothing when moving them.
