Exclamation Crickets no one will help🙏

Exclamation Bad vario pump ?How can tell if it’s a weak or bad pump , bad solenoids ? I have everything lucked in place , release valve closed , no top in operation on the dash . I pull up on switch windows go down. top in operation on dash I hear pump kicking in but nothing happens, I push button back down windows go back up pump runs a few seconds and turns off . .plus how do I check pins ?? Do I check the at to controller with it unplugged and ignition on and are the pins numbered ???? Sorry to be a pai inthe one 🫏
Now 3 hours later pump not operating, hit the switch windows do ¼ drop and nothing else happens, put on my scanner it says everything is seems to be recognized even the pump This system seems all pretty straightforward with Mike65’s help. Please I am begging 🙏

I think that everyone has given up trying to help you. When we ask something or tell you to try something you usually ignore that and come back with another question instead. I believe this is where I gave up:

Manually lock and unlock the front latch and see if the value switches between Recognized and Not Recognized. Do the same with the frame locks. Until those are both working, don't worry about anything else.

Check that and then post all of the actual values on the Autel scanner.

1. Keep all of your vario pump posts in one thread. For example this one.

2. List:
a. details about this car: year, miles, how long you have owned it, what service has been done in the past 12 months
b. all of the symptoms you are experiencing
c. what you have done so far to address the symptoms

People can engage with the above and help you. You need to help us help you.

I have checked each l switch at their plugs with an ohm meter all tested fine, every latch is locked, I have checked every cylinder for leaking all are dry and no puddles anywhere . I changed fluid in the reservoir .the only i haven’t done is checked the pins , not sure where they are & dose it have to be unplugged and ignition on ? But now the pump seems dead though both scanners read it as ok …..

this and report back?

Manually lock and unlock the front latch and see if the value switches between Recognized and Not Recognized. Do the same with the frame locks. Until those are both working, don't worry about anything else.

Check that and then post all of the actual values on the Autel scanner.


This is post number 2 that mike has clearly given instructions and guidance for you to do. You have not done that and until you do, you are on your own. You beg for help, but don’t follow the guidance that is given to help repair your issue.
It is frustrating to deal with someone you give advice to and they don’t heed the advice, but come back for help again.

Ok here’s the rundown , it’s a 2006 sl55, I have owned for last 4yrs. The problem started when I put the top up and about the step when the roof latched at the header and it took another 10seconds for the trunk to close it left about a ½ gap on passenger side and stopped there I could not get it to go any further either direction. When I got home I locked tubular frame lock ( pass side ) manually . I put it my scanner and received a s69/1 code. From that point on I have been on this forum trying to fix . I have checked the switches with a ohms meter they are working, I have not checked at the controller, I’m not a small frame guy ( no not fat ) and can’t get to the controller with the top up … I have checked all hydraulics lifts and they are dry no puddles or wet spots in the trunk . I did replace the center roof hydraulic unit about 2yrs ago. After several attempts the pump quit running nut sure why , I did order a replacement pump from Kluase should be here by Thursday. The only other thing I cannot check is if the hydraulic cylinders are leaking internally.. that’s about it in a nutshell.

No, not everything is locked

380 Tubular Frame Closed, Locked is not recognized. Try closing the latches manually and see if you can get it recognized. If not, check the switches to ground. When closed both pins on both switches should have continuity to ground. If you have that and switches are still not recognized, check pin 33 on the RVC module for continuity to ground.

Ok I have checked s69/ 1& 3 have been recognized. I don’t and never had #2 , s118/ 1 & 2 are recognized, but pump dose not run ( yes it has fluid ). When I check to put my top down, front windows go down, two rears don’t not even with the switch. When front windows are up there is a small gap between front and rear windows both sides. Any ideas ?

The scan you posted showed that the frame locks (380) were Not Recognized. Are you saying that you rescanned and they are now showing Recognized?

I understand my scanner a bit better now that I know what everyone that giving me advice mean by values and by trial & error starting to understand the line numbers for each function…. Smart having the dumb for not knowing how to read it. 🥺

One quick thing to try. Unlatch the front latch manually and then try to close the roof. See if the pump kicks in, closes the latch, and you get the hardtop closed notification in the dash.

What happens when you unlatch the front latch and then try to close? Does the pump run? Just nothing happens?

Nothing happens, only top in operation shows on cluster when I hit the switch. When I spoke to top hydraulics Kluase told me to tap on the pump motor maybe a brush was stuck. I tried and still nothing. I bought a used Roof controller off of eBay waiting for it to arrive (probably not needed ), and I should have my pump from Kluase on Thursday. I feel that the previous owner contaminated the pump. He was was not sure how to add fluid so he drilled a hole and plugged it.that’s why I asked earlier if it could be rebuilt. Owner told me when I bought the car that there was fluid leaking from the header of the roof that’s why he tried fill it . I had to show him where the filler screw was on the end of reservoir cup. He gave me that (oh I didn’t know that look). Anyway I replace the roof cylinder 4yrs ago and top worked great just a little slower compared to my 99 r129…. This is where we are today ☹️
