HomeLink garage door opener

Has anyone had an issue programming the onboard garage door opener for an R230. Mine simply flashes yellow and never learns a garage door code

Directions I am following:
1. Hold desired button and garage door opener button until light on the HomeLink/rearview mirror changes flashing from slow to fast.
2. Once light starts flashing fast the unit is programmed.

Problem is the system does not seem to accept the garage door opener code as the light stays flashing slowly

Has anyone else encountered this, and found a solution?

I can't answer your question specifically for the R230, but there are a couple of common things to follow with Homelink.
  1. Go to https://www.homelink.com/program and confirm the specific steps for your car and garage door opener.
  2. If you have a Chamberlain/LiftMaster garage door opener manufactured after 2011, then you will need a repeater, because the Homelink in your car is too old to support the new Security+ 2.0 protocol. https://www.liftmaster.com/homelink-...OMELINK+RPTRMC. Other garage door openers may have the same issue.

I had the same issue on my W212 and the repeater device purchased from Amazon solved the problem.

I have an old chamberlain garage door opener that wouldn't communicate with the car. I bought a 4 channel receiver-transmitter set (China) for next to nothing. Hooked it up in parallel with the connection to the push button on the garage wall.

Your car's home link has three push buttons. I hooked up a timer to the receiver; button #2 fires up the main garage lights for 3 minutes, button #3 switches them off before the timer runs out. Very convenient when backing in at night!

Homelink repeater (linked above) solved this problem for me.

Garage door opener

I just programmed mine, no problem. I have a chamberlain. First hold you door opener 3 to 5" from mirror. Press both buttons at the same time, your home link will flash slowly at first, then rapidly, let go. Now press the learn button on the opener inside the garage. You have 30 seconds to get back to the car and press the same button again until door closes.
