So I just joined the forum as I just purchased my first MB a few weeks ago. The car has a few gremlins which all have been resolved with the exception of this one issue. Every time I start the car, the wipers run 4 or 5 times stopping wherever they decide to stop at WITH the wiper switch in the OFF position. I have tried installing a new wiper motor and new relays with no success. I even cleaned to windshield but to no avail.

Any thoughts?

 

If you have a diagnostics tool that can show live data, you can see if the switch is sending a signal to the wipers to turn on and off. If they show that they aren't sending a signal (meaning that the switch is off) but still have the wipers moving then it could be a SAM (signal acquisition module) problem. That's the box that containers relays, fuses, and can itself act as a relay. There are several SAMs throughout the car. I'm not sure which one handles the wipers though.
