SL/R230: Vario roof flap actuating cable

Vario roof flap actuating cable
Looking for some help and wisdom. The rack ( of the rack and pinion ) on the drivers side of the car is attached to the control cable. Unfortunately the rack on the passenger side of the vehicle detached from the control cable and the cable slid inside its sleeve and I am unable to pull it out and reattach the rack. Any advice on how to get enough slack to pull out the control cable?

Take it off at the motor end and push it through. I'm not sure how much luck you will have reattaching the end, but that will at least give you access.
