Code P2004

I have a 2005 SL500 and yesterday I got a check engine light so a scanned it with my Foxwell NT510 and got a code P2004 which says the bank 1 intake air flap is stuck open. When I looked it up for repair, it says the issue is a broken air flap lever but, mine is not broken and when I tested it with my scanner it works and I don’t see anything that’s broken. The R230 appears to only have one air flap actuator on the front driver’s side of the intake. Shouldn’t there be two actuators for both sides??? Since my actuator works, what else would cause a code P2004?

A few things, either the actuator arm to that bank broke or came off, or there is a lot of carbon build up inside the intake manifold. Or the runner sensor may have gone bad, I'd do a visual and see if the runner arm can rotate freely... If it has a lot of resistance then the runner flaps are probably gummed up. Alternatively you can remove the intake manifold and clean everything inside, pull out the sensor at the rear corner and make sure it's clean. Are you getting any other codes?

I’ve checked all that and there’s nothing broken and the arm does rotate freely. I’m not getting any other codes. What sensor in the back corner are talking about…where is it? The engine runs super smooth but, when blip the throttle quickly, it hesitates then revs up.

There should be a sensor at the rear corner of the intake manifold (passenger side)

I see something back there that looks yellow. How do I check it?
