I was having issues opening my convertible top on my 2011 SL550 and after doing some diagnostics noticed the reason is because my top shelf does go up when I'm opening the top, it's because the plastic holder piece that is supposed to hold the cable in place is broken, seen in the sample picture below right above the ring terminal. Mercedes seems to only sell it as a complete cable assembly, anyone know where I might get just that plastic bracket?

 

I have some that are professionally printed in nylon on HP MJF printers. I will PM the details.

Also, make sure that the gas strut is strong. Otherwise you might continue to break the ends.

 

Sent you a PM, it wasn't the end piece that broke off, it's the middle plastic piece right above the ring terminal in the picture, the part with like 3 grooves on it.

 

I believe that is still available as a separate item, P/N 230-790-11-77.

If it is obsolete, let me know and I will model it and order a few.
