It looks like if I want wireless CarPlay, it will be an NTG4 or higher. Probably will start looking at a 2012 or newer SLK instead of an 2009-2011 SL.

Hi Davery,
Don't know if you want the full CarPlay functionality or just music streaming?... but I bought aBluetooth adapter on Ebay recently for
SL500 (2010) less than £10. Works well streaming from Spotify and the sound quality is good.
You just need to make sure that the car you are looking at has the media interface port under the armrest. I believe it was only fitted to
cars with the revised front end - from 2008 (in the UK) factory option code 518.
