SL/R230: CAN KLA connector problem (Heating controller)
.While fitting a reversing camera to the back of my radio, I damaged a connector that goes in the back of the heating controller, and pulled it off the cable.
It is the three core CAN KLA (see stock picture)
Now re-fitting it is easy, but it can go two ways. There is no identification on the ribbon cable as to which is core 1.
Can anyone suggest a way of identifying which wire goes to pin 1 on the plug. The electrical drawing doesn't help.
I can guess (I have a 50/50 chance), but don't want to risk damaging the ventilation flap motors.
Is there an easily accessible flap motor that I can disconnect the plug from to see which is cable on pin 1?
I decided to carefully work out which way the connector fitted on the ribbon cable. I carefully inspected it with a magnifying glass, eased the connector from both directions looking for best fit, and assessed the orientation of the cable when heating control fitted. OK I guessed which way it went.
I was wrong, vents didn't work, but blower motor went to max speed
.Took it off again, and refitted the other way.
And it worked fine. No harm done. Everything operating as it should do.

Big relief, as the bus caries 12V, ground and communication line.
