Coilovers installed - But when to start tweaking

Hi all...

Just got coilivers installed on my R230 and they are fantastic. No more worries about the ABC breaking down or being a concern. But my question is how long does it take for the coilovers to settle in? It's currently sitting at about stock ride height now but I'd like it a little lower.

I set the ride height on mine at the time of fitting at 40mm lower than normal on ABC. After a few miles I think I had to alter just one of the rears. Over the next few trips I set the shocks to how I thought the car felt best. That was three years ago and I've not touched it since.

When I bought my Mercedes SL 350 I had a choice of the V8 SL 500 but decided simply for ABC reasons to go with the SL350 and so glad I did ! I then lowered my SL on Eibachs Pro kit with a 30mm drop and love it as they are progressive coils and still give a comfortable ride at normal speeds. If you have stock springs you could try using lower or no coil pads that will give you 20-25mm drop, they sit at the top of the coil.
