Mystery Green Wedge/Shim(?) from Inside Driver's Door - Possible Regulator Part?

Greetings,

Over the last year and a half of me owning my 2004 SL500 I have sometimes heard a loose part in the driver's door upon closing. Well, my window regulator went out recently and upon inspecting the inside bottom of the door I found this mysterious green colored wedge/shim. I have looked at MB parts diagrams and cannot identify it.

Is anybody here familiar with this item, where it goes, and what its function is? Also, I would appreciate any hints on the re-instillation of the regulator, lubrication of the motor, alignment of the glass, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Although it is shim shaped it does not have friction ridges on neither the front, back, or side surfaces

It goes on the front window support. The bolt goes through the large center slot on the green piece. I can't remember exactly how it is orientated.

Thanks! So there’s not supposed to be another one of these green wedges on the rearmost rail? Thanks.

I think there is only one green piece. Here is a screenshot of the backside of that window support which may help.

Thanks a lot. I think this is very helpful. It shows where the only tab on that green wedge sticks up and where it is mounted.

I would like your opinion on something else. I ordered a used replacement regulator apparatus that is complete on eBay. It looks to be in very good condition. But I also ordered a repair kit. Do you think I should go ahead and try to “restring” the used one or just go with it the way it is? I think someone, maybe you, said it was very difficult to restring these things.

Thanks again for all of your kind help.

If it's in good shape, I would use it as is.
I would also clean the rails really good and add a little lithium grease on the rails where they meet the green and blue pads.

Also be a good idea to clean the wheel house as best you can and add some lithium grease.
