Thanks for the link. I am going to look into it, but I am not optimistic about my situation. I am also going to check out the glove compartment of the '05 SLK to see how it might hook up.

I am pleased that MB incorporated the iPod dock into its newer models. However, I am baffled as to why they removed the AUX jack from the '05 COMAND (or some of them apparently)-- the cost is miniscule and it greatly improves functionality.

So far this is what I have noticed has been deleted from my 2005 that the 2004's had. Anyone got more?

1. No memory interior rear view mirror
2. No heat and a/c air burst buttons on the middle of the dash.
3. No tilting right outside mirror on reverse.
4. No presents on auto use in center of instrument cluster.
5. No Ipod jack in glove box

I bet there is more.
You should have #3, the right mirror tilts in reverse, there is a setting to turn this feature on and off.

When I get my SL600, I hope they get the memory interior memory back. I wonder if that I-pod kit will work in a 2004 SL? I have the aux jack in my glove box.

Wouldn't count on it. When are you planning for your SL600?

Until I get over my disappointment with the bells and whistles. The sales manger at the dealer is so frustrated with Mercedes on some of the decisions they make with the radios, navigation, and other bells and whistles. He told me that he has been complaining to Mercedes for years, and he also said sales would be up a whole lot if Mercedes ever listen to the customers. But I still think the SL is a great car.

Right now I am trying to decide to buy one of the following: SL600, SL65, or a business. If the rumors are true, I may wait until the 4-piston V8 engine comes out.

One of those three choices is going to take a lot more work.

Thats not the goal.

TV tuner is an awfully expensive solution just for the iPod. I believe your car will be compatible with the MB iPod interface, so that might be a better route for you. The TV tuner isn't for the driver to watch while driving; it's for the passenger, or for the driver to watch while parked and waiting.
