help on ordering sl500 please
im placing my order with dealer for the sl500 this week, the list price is about 94k including sport package and the wood wheel, i wanna ask back for 90k, i know it's ridiculous, but this is my first mercedes, so i really don't know what's reasonable or not, to those experts of u, please advise, appreciate it!

Unclear what you mean by ask back. Is your dealer offering car at MSRP and you want to pay less? You can assume dealer making eight thousand profit if sells at MSRP with the options you reference. If this dealer wants you bad enough as a new customer he might deal - especially if you are willing to wait until supply meets demand. As far as current sales go take a look at the ads in Autoweek. As of two weeks ago the lowest advertised price for a 2003 500SL was something like $113,000 and I don't recall if that included the sport package or not.

94k is what i was told today, that only includes the sport package and the wood package(86655+5100+840=94k+- and with tax), i was hoping i could bargain with the dealer, but i don't know how much less than the list price should i expect to pay.

Sorry to say, right now, there's a big wait list for new SL's, and dealers aren't going to be interested in bargaining. "Used" 2003 SL's are selling at auction for $104K. If you want to get one below list price, you'll have to wait for a rather long time. Seasons or possibly years, not months.

The retail price (at least for the SL500) around $89K by the time you add in gas guzzler tax and luxury tax.
The dealers will quote you MSRP, but you go on the "wait list" until your car is built. The cars arriving this month were typically ordered 18-24 months ago in the bay area. At least that's when I ordered mine (it arrives in a few weeks). I'm sure the wait is now considerably less, but it wouldn't surprise me if they quote 6-12 months wait. Longer for the 55.
Unless you have an "in" at the dealer, of course.
Generally speaking, the dealers who have SL's on the lot are either buying them "used" with 200 miles on them, and are selling them for a huge markup, or are loading them up with aftermarket wheels and charging $20K extra for them.

Consider yourself lucky if the dealer is quoting you MSRP without any......
additional dealer mark-ups. Fortunately, dealers here in Canada sell strictly on MSRP, but you will have to wait in line.
