I'm due for the 10,000 mile service. I'll have the advisor write it up again. I'll tell him that not all ECO systems are screwy. I'll tell them I read it here.

I'd really like to see mine work consistently. It's as if mine has an intermittent bad sensor

I just don't pay any attention to it anymore as it makes little discernible sense to me. I figure it's likely working given its instruction set - and I know it's complex - so when I come to a light and the engine stops I know it's "on"'- otherwise I ignore it. My engineering mind spent some time when I first had the car on the ECO system- but I gave up trying to understand it. Made no more sense than a woman's thinking

^ this. spot on. i have no idea if mine is working properly or not. no clue. absolutely clueless. i am without clue. all i know is that i have not been stranded or put in danger yet. fast approaching 2k miles now and can not make rhyme or reason out of it or how it works. shrug.

I apologize -- My ECO symbol does indeed turn yellow periodically. I just didn't look at it carefully until now...

Still for me, the ECO system seems to be doing as advertised and shuts off the engine at times. Yesterday, we were diving with the top down and I noticed the ECO system was yellow while parked with the engine running. But later at a stop sign it was normal and shutoff the engine (still with the top down).

I suspect that (my) city driving most frequently matches the (mystery) scenarios necessary for ECO shutoff.
