SL/R231: 2014 SL550 Pricing

SLk300; S500; BMW 335i.
I just picked mine up on Xmas eve for a $96k (and change) selling price. MSRP was $112k and change.
I did a lease of course (full tax write off), but selling price is important (obviously residual and MF are as, if not more, important).
Gotta say….. it's totally different than what I'm used to (came from an E89 Z4 35i and E93 M3).
More comfortable, great pull on the highway, but the transmission leaves a lot to be desired.
In terms of comfort and luxury, the BMWs pail in comparison.
If only the SL had a better tranny, than it would've been perfect. I've heard the AMGs are phenomenal… but I am in no position to afford a SL63 AMG so I didn't even want to risk driving one and risk falling in love and getting it…

Just fair warning: I got this right at the end of the year, so deals will probably not be as good now. They wanted to increase their sales before the end of the year (plus I got this car on Xmas eve, and I got 2 Benzes last year on Xmas eve, and it's my 12th benz in the past decade…. so safe to say I have a decent relationship with Mercedes Benz…)

I think at some point you can spend too much time worrying about getting the absolute best price and lose out. 5 months ago you asked about a 2013 for $93.5k and then multiple pricing questions since. Just buy one that has the features & color you like and enjoy it... Be happy. :-)

I would think you should be able to do better depending on the options. For a new one 6 months ago I got it at 18% off MSRP. Did it have exactly the options I would have spec'd no. Did it have most of the items I would have spec'd, yes. Before I bought the car I looked at two 2013 911s's that each had less than 5K on the odo. They were about 25% off. This type of car takes a big hit at the drive off. If the car was base this would not be a good deal imo.
My question would be why did someone turn in a car with 2,045? The Porsche dealer had letters from the owners of those two (2) cars and why they traded in along with an offer of the phone number. I would guess that the dealer promised them a better trade in if they would talk to a future owner. Both were reasons that didn't impact me (one was a present to a kid who wanted Cayenne SUV and the other one was a cost issue).
