SL/R231: Transmission won't shift out of Reverse

Transmission won't shift out of Reverse
Anyone had an issue with the transmission not shifting out of reverse? Had this happen a few times after idling in reverse (car in front is parallel parking and I have the car in reverse in case they get a little too close)
I move the shifter back to drive or park and nothing happens. I need to turn off the car when it is in reverse or drive and it automatically goes to neutral.
I took a video of it for my dealer but he said not a big deal since its back to normal after I restart the car. Not what I'd expect but

This is not normal. Force the dealer to resolve this issue. I've had two issues were cycling the enigne on/off button temporarily resolves the problem. Tell your dealer to (1) look for event codes stored in memory (2 )assess current software version for possible updates and (3) if nothing found change the transmission controller (part of electronic transmission). Its happened twice to me and both times when the car was idling in reverse for >15 secondss. The second time I took a video of it to show nothing happens when I try to shift out or put in park. Only turning the car off and back on will fix it.
Basically the dealer looked at it for a day and came back with "Could not replicate issue".
They said unless they can replicate it, they can't do anything that will be covered under warranty.

Probably will be a software patch someday to address what occurs when a unique combo of about twenty things yield this result. 4 months and nothing like this for me. Only weird thing that happens when I select reverse is 1 of 100 times I get no backup camera.
