I am trying to connect a bluetooth Escort smart radar detector to the COMAND display. There is an app in the apple and android app stores called Escort Live, that I use to connect the radar detector to my phone.

Is it possible to have my car display connect to the radar detector instead of my phone. This could make for a pretty sweet combination.

No. The Bluetooth connection is between the app and the radar detector. If you listen to the iPhone via Bluetooth audio, then the radar alerts will interrupt then music. Pretty sweet as it's almost impossible for me to see the Escort display (Passport Max in my case) in the sun and top down.

I don't suppose there is a way for the Mbrace display to load apps from the apple store such as escort live??

No. No way to load iOS apps. All that will be possible I hope when the CarPlay interface is coming out. That will show any CarPlay ready iOS apps to show on the comand screen. Can't wait to use apple maps instead of the MB nav. or use any music apps with proper steering wheel control.

Should be a $700 or so plus install box.

do you know if CarPlay will be retroactive, able to be installed on MB cars that don't have CarPlay presently?
