They held up the delivery of the brand new(sort of) 2017 because of floor mats??????????????????????????????????????????
Nearly as bad as what's happening with Mercedes and Formula 1 these days with their two drivers....................and how those two could end up killing each other one day.
Sorry, just don't buy that story but looking forward as you must be to you getting your car. Its been a rather long wait.
Mine was supposedly released from the Brunswick, GA port on Sunday, 7/31/16. My dealer is trying to track it for an ETA in Houston, hopefully by the end of the week. Also supposed to have lease money factor and residual today so I can finalize the deal.

The delays on this one have really been annoying, particularly because it showed as being already in production and then being delayed for weeks on end.
I have seen that before when there was a backorder on a specific option but besides the patent issue on air scarf all was standard fare...
The car is released to carrier but if I wouldn't have called to bug them, it would have sat at porter another week plus. I do believe the reason for the delay because the car was released when the "Accessory mats" were removed.
Idiotic to hold up customer cars for stuff like that. It's one thing to hold up a dealer inventory car, but not one with a name on it...

I was quoted a 59% residual for a 3 year lease (not bad) and a 0.00175 buy-rate on the MF plus 0.00060 for dealer markup less 0.00080 for a one-pay lease for a net MF of 0.00155. That's a 3.72% interest rate (MF x 2400) which seems high for this day and age. Any input?

THE MF on my last one was .001. The buy rate was .00095 at that time if memory serves.
The MF buy-rate is set by MB and changes each month--it is not negotiable since it is the rate that they charge the dealers. As the model year progresses the buy-rate goes down and the residuals go down to somewhat offset each other to keep the payments close. When you lease at the very beginning of the model year you get the highest buy-rate and residual. The 59% residual that I am getting for a 3 year lease is pretty high--I'm used to seeing them in the 50% range. As well, the buy-rate is also high at this time. My dealer tells me that he has seen buy-rates as high as 0.0024 for some models at the beginning of the model year, so the 0.00175 that I am being quoted is in line with this logic.
The dealers always want to add mark-up to the buy-rate since they treat their leasing departments as profit centers--anywhere from 0 to 0.001. My dealer is adding 0.0006 to the buy-rate, but I am also getting a 0.0008 reduction because I am doing a one-pay lease where I also pay no sales tax.
When I leased my '14 SL550 late in the model year I got a 0.00114 buy rate, but the residual was also a lot lower.

The SL usually has a lower MF than other models. The highest is usually the S-Class coupe/conv. and all AMG's of course.
I am still surprised at the buy rate of 0.00175 as that is higher than what the rate was when the R231 came out. This car is selling is low volume so rates have been more aggressive by MB.
Your residual is nice but I assume that this is for less than 15k miles a year?

Maybe MB figures the new face-lifted SL will sell better the first year so why incentivize the buy-rates very much. I guess they can always lower them if they're wrong--that's the price I pay for wanting one of the first ones.
Yes, my lease is for 7.5K per year--it's my wife's car and she doesn't drive very much.
The dealer was delivering 3 new SL's yesterday--our Iridium Silver/Bengal Red, a white one, and a gray one all lined up in their indoor delivery area. Everyone was gravitating toward ours because of the color combination. The attached pictures really don't do it justice because of the crappy lighting in my garage, but it takes on a completely different personality than the '14 black/black one we traded in--it's a lot more sporty looking. The silver is very pale which we really like and the interior is exceptional (not as bright a red as these pictures show and a nice mix of red and black)—really pretty carbon fiber weave on the trim and the red parts have black stitching and the black parts have red stitching and piping. Also love the AMG multi-spoke wheels.

Sweet car. Congratulations and enjoy in good health!
Congrats...looks fabulous.....let us know how she drives? Oh, nearly forgot ask, what were the tires delivered? Are you changing and if so to what?
Best. And very happy driving and enjoyment.............
The tires are Continental Conti Sport Contact SSR run flats just like on the '14 I turned in--I didn't have any issues with them so I have no intention on changing them out. I've only driven from the dealer to a restaurant and back home so far and it feels just like the '14. I'm looking forward to playing around with the new driving modes though.

I understand that some folks like the OP's interior just as it is and, believe me, I'm happy for you. To me, though, the interior on this what, $125k+ car looks CHEAP. If you make certain parts ONLY in black, you save a ton of money, which is what MB has done here. On the other hand, Porsche, for example, thinks that if their customer wants an ALL RED interior, that's exactly what they will sell you, please see photo. OR, if a Porsche customer wants that all red interior, with a black dash & carpets, NO FRIGGING PROBLEM, just chek the appropriate boxes.
For the past five to seven years, MB has been diluting the luxury car experience. They are trying to be everything to everyone and the folks who buy their cars at the top of the food chain are suffering, so that the CLA's, GLA's and other shouldabeenproducedbytoyota cars can clog the MB service departments and S Class customers can't have their cars the way they want them.
This, of course, is just my opinion. Tune in next week when we ask, for the umpteenth time, WTF is up with RFT and NO PLACE to put a spare.
Well, you know what they say about opinions--everyone has one. Actually, I like a black/red combination interior and don't think it looks cheap at all--the contrast looks really good especially with the red and black stitching/piping. An all red interior looks great in a sports car but the SL is NOT a sports car--it's a grand touring car and more elegant. I also like the Bengal Red which is a more "brick" shade of red than an in your face bright red that also looks fine in a sports car like your Porsche example.
Now, run flats vs. a spare tire? That's a cause I can get behind.

Since you mentioned opinions here's mine. I had a C7 with red interior, it was half black also. It would have looked better if solid red IMO. My SL with Bengle Red looks much better to me. As you stated the darker red is very attractive. As far as RF's go, I was going to replace them and get an emergency inflation kit but for a couple of reasons didn't. Now, I couldn't be happier with the ride/handling (Bridestones) and the knowledge that if I get a flat I have the ability to continue driving to get it replaced or repaired.

UNLESS you happen to hit a road hazard that shreds the tire or damages the wheel. AND, should something like this happen anytime other than daytime and anywhere other than in the middle of a large, metro area, not only will you be in for a ride in a tow truck cab, you may end up spending the night at the "No Tell Motel." Then "Earl" at the fillin' station looks at your car the next morning and he says "ain't naar seen a tar like thatun. Gotta call Omaha an see if they can sen one."
Years ago, in a Lexus LS430, just after dark, commuting home on the 405 in heavy buy fast traffic, I hit something that blew my tire. I couldn't see what I had hit, so there was no avoiding it. Must have been something that fell off a vehicle. Anyway, I get over to the side of the freeway and I call AAA. A few minutes later, a Metro truck pulls up behind me. The guy swaps out my blown, shredded tire for the FULL SIZE (thank you Lexus) spare in my trunk. All in all, I was home for dinner. Had I had RFT & no spare, the car would have been towed somewhere, I would have probably had to leave it and take a taxi home. Bottom line, it would have been a frigging mess with no spare and this was around 6:30pm in the middle Long Beach!
Conventional tires or run flats, it doesn't matter: THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A SPARE, NONE!
Mercedes was not famous for their all red or single color interiors. It was just what they used to do, primarily for simplicity. If anything, an all red interior was cheaper to produce.
I think you are talking about nostalgia
I absolutely agree with you that it would be fantastic to offer a wide variety of color choices and combinations and fault them to be not more imaginative. But I understand their rationale.
Porsche is a niche player that makes crazy margins on customer options. Mercedes as a large scale manufacturer has decided not to go there.
