Angry lost sound

I have been having problems with loosing the sound for music (radio or nano) in my 2016 SL550.
when i would touch the mute the message "microphone on" or "microphone off" would be displayed on the screen.
Then the only way to get sound back was to reset the system-and you then loose all data (seat position, radio stations etc.)
What i have done now to restore sound is turn off bluetooth on my phone-I now have sound but no bluetooth phone connection.

since the dealer had me turn off my iphone i have had to do it 2 more times-for some reason it turns off the speakers and the mute button on the steering wheel turns the microphone on and off-then i reboot the iphone and the car speakers work again-i think it might be an iphone bluetooth problem

I had this once or twice on our S550 a month or so ago. Had to re-boot the phone. It seems a unique occurrence and hasn't happened since. I did have the IOS update. Is yours on the latest IOS?

I would remove both Bluetooth pairings (phone & MB) and re-pair just to be sure...
