SL/R231: Oil leaks on 2017 SL450

Very few of these cars have been sold in the US. You might want to check the C450 forum to see if anyone has issues there (same engine, slightly different torque).
Also, any MB owner will always get a MB loaner in the US (not a rental) and for the Sl at minimum a new E-Class or GLE. Is that different in Canada or just your dealer?
Good luck!

I have been through similar with BMW Canada and I know their policy is basically that they don't have to offer any replacement vehicle, regardless of value, age etc. Shocking I know. After 9 BMWs in a row, I decided to give MB a try. Obviously wish I hadn't now - so angry. Nissan is a fine brand but I paid $140,000 just two weeks ago and now I'm driving a Nissan for 9 days?? (I had to fight for the rental by the way). I am just amazed that this is the way these manufacturers deal with customers. No wonder Lexus and Infiniti do so well in N America.
Sounds like US situation is better than Canada. If any users have any advice specific to Canada situation, please do let me know as I am more than willing to press this further and try and help future people in my situation.

If you have another MB dealer, go there. I take cars where service is best, not where purchased...
That said, oil leaks are quite rare and at least on the V8, MB engines are a million times more reliable than BMW (used to have a 750li with N63 engine).
If not satisfied, you might consider giving them the car back and get another one.
The SL's are great convertibles cars and neither BMW or anyone else for that matter has a real match for it.
It's unusual they won't give you an MB loaner vehicle, unless they were out. If my dealer is out of loaner cars then they have an enterprise rental office in the building that can help, but that cost the dealership money so normally they would rather keep the loaners for customers with actual issues like yours. I'd assume they are just full and didn't have any cars left to give you, and since they have to pay for the nissan they made you work for it. Still not the right way to handle it at all.
