gas prices
seems a stingy question when we are driving a high end car but have wealthy friends with very high end cars and a few of them mentioned the following to me............
Why do you spend so much on filling your car up? Having corvettes(and you know how fanatical they seen to be on the corvette forum?) they are always going on about Chevron or Shell for top quality tier 1 gasolene and I have just been using only these two for about 20 years...never thought otherwise. Won't use Seven Eleven stations but have occasionally filled up at Conoco stations as supposedly their gas is also top quality.
So here in Florida depending where you go to.....Premium is around 2.99 to 3.17 per gallon. Two of my friends I just found out..RR and Ferrari, go to Racetrack and get premium for $2.49 and state they don't have problems at all.......................that's quite a saving....now I know why they are so rich
So my question to the experts here....where do you go to and why? And what type of grade gas does racetrack use and your comments on this?

Been living the gasoline conundrum for some time myself. From my time in the oil and gas business, I can say that premium, may not be premium, may not be premium. Many fuels cite that they meet the criteria to comply with Top Tier Gasoline, meeting that standard, but others, well they have additives and processes that go beyond that standard. That is where the point of contention exists in the decision to 'save money' at the pump. My personal experience with various M-B, BMW, Audi and (gulp) GM products, along with discussions among my more knowledgeable colleagues and dealer technicians, have led me to the point that I will put no gas in my vehicles other than Shell, Mobil, Sunoco, or Chevron. Those brands are noted as providing a package of ingredients that are more compatible with today's high end injection system requirements. Yes, you may save money today with other fuels, but long term you will see the effects from using those lower component fuels. I will submit this for your consideration: if lower cost fuels were fully acceptable, why would any sound race car driver put anything else in his vehicle (RON similar)? Caveat emptor.

For me here in NorCal, Chevron is always my first choice and then Shell. I remember reading something very positive about Techron many years ago and have stuck with it since. Shell also has their go-juice additive V-Power which is probably similar but not patented as far as I know. Prices at the closest stations where all the soccer moms gas up is the most expensive but if you know where to go you can usually get Premium for 2.89-3.19.

I must be the cheap guy Typically fill up at Costco which now runs around $2.35 per gallon premium.
The biggest issue with gas is ethanol IMO

Its around $ 7.00 a gallon here in the UK and that's not premium eg 10% Ethanol, and it seems to be going up weekly since that ******* Putin started his illegal war. What puzzles me is we don't buy crude from that region we buy it from the middle east along with I think USA.

If I change my ECU back to the factory setting and drive 60mph like a great grandfather my ‘19 SL550 gets 26.5 mph on the back roads I drive. Unlike all my friends my wife and I do not take vacations, eat out, use cable tv etc. so gasoline prices will not hamper my lifestyle even a bit. It’s all about priorities.
PS-Last year when the economic websites started talking about higher inflation I had my roof reshingled, the 30 year old fence around the property replaced, 4 central air-conditioning and heating units totally replaced and started filling our freezer with double sealed meat and already have saved a tremendous amount of money over what this cost today, and it’s going to get a lot higher.
Since I also do all the filter and fluid changes on all my cars and Tractors I bought enough oil, transmission fluid and filters for over 26 pieces of machinery that will last me for four or five years.
I am fortunate to have come from a long time rural farming family were planning ahead for the future is a priority. One never knows when your next crop may not be good so when times are profitable you save and store for bad times.

Unless I'm traveling I buy all my fuel for all 3 vehicles at Sam's Club. They sell lots of fuel so I know it's fresh. I filled up last week and 93 octane was just below $4. Today it's $4.25. I suspect I'll see $5 soon. I think crude is up to about $130/barrel.

For me it’s striking trying to put a project together that requires multiple parts to complete. We had a tough time completing a bathroom remodel because we couldn’t find matching plumbing.
An example, people can’t finish simple things like getting all the parts you need to put some IKEA furniture together.

Imagine building cars or even repair shops.
Haha I even had a Mercedes dealer buy the Brembo 4 piston sport brake calipers I was selling on eBay because they couldn’t get them in a reasonable time for a car that needed them.
LOL😀 It’s like a banana republic…

Charging an EV in the UK is no bargain either.. Charging a Model S is between $25-30 from what I heard. That would be almost double the US rate...

Yeah that’s because they can’t stand the thought of loosing revenue that was only supposed to be temporary originally. They are too stupid to think of additional means to acquire revenue, so they just do what the person before them did. Tax. Tax, tax.
