Since this is bordering on a political discussion, and since I do NOT want to imply that I am speaking on behalf of my employer, I will say no more. I will urge all who have an interest, though, to dig into the facts for themselves.
Many ignorant people in the world (actually most are but do not know it). Gas prices are up because he is not the guy I voted for............

I will keep those youngsters in my thoughts and prayers.

Even a very cursory "investigative" tour of the Internet will educate a person on what influence the president (any president) has on gas prices. It's complicated but a president's influence is but small ingredient in the "cake" that is the global oil market.

This forum reflects a demographic that is supposed to be a little more sophisticated from a soci-economic perspective. I hope we all feel at least a slight responsibility to at least TRY to post based on data/facts versus political ideology REGARDLESS of our own political leanings. I mean if we, with all the advantages our demographic suggests, can't take the time to get it right how can we expect others to follow suit?

Everyone calm down. Lets talk about things we ALL have in common.
CARS

I have a simple formula for times these days:

ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA + TARGET MARKETING = YOUR NEWS
left or right you're being sold

Coffee's for closers...

Cleaned up the thread a bit but I will move it into the Off topic section if this is becoming a political conversation.

Our governor asked the state assembly to pass a bill that would remove the state fuel tax for at least 30 days. Bill passed on Wednesday and the fuel tax was lifted today. Any fuel delivered beginning today will not be taxed by the state. This reduces the price by 36 cents a gallon. Not sure how I feel about this. It's a nice gesture but I also like well maintained roads and bridges.

One strategically placed, unrepaired pothole can negate 500% of the cumulative 36 cents per gallon savings. Trade a potential $10,000 suspension & wheel repair for saving 36 cents a gallon; just smoke and mirrors.

Well I can say you probably have much better roads in Hagerstown than we have here in the DMV area. Gas tax or no Gas tax our roads will remain the same, fix some lose some. Personally my faith in government competency overall has waned. Hogan has grand political aspirations and this IMO is nothing more than a tactic to increase his likability.

I'm not sure about Hogan's grand political aspirations, but I like him. Maryland has a history of electing buffoons and for once they got it right with Hogan. And, FWIW, I'm happy to save the 36 cents per gallon IF it actually reaches the pump. I fear that because people are "used to" $4.00 plus prices (and I would LOVE to see $4.00 again), we may see just a marginal reduction in prices.

And if you live in an area plagued with potholes, get a beater to drive. You can't really drive your $100k+ car like it needs to be in DC.
