OK, so with the yard done, and the garage clean, and the house reorganized, it has come time to address the vehicles in our 'fleet'. Today was the SL550's day. Bath, clay bar, wax, trim dressing, full wheel cleanings; and now it's ready for the next adventure. Been basically parked since we came back from Florida at the end of February, and we missed Keeneland and the ponies. We have hatched a long weekend plan to do the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned. In the mean time, here are a few clean shots!
I was trying to show the variations in the Lunar Blue with different lighting; this is a reflection of the clouds and sky off of the hood.
Just a glint of sunlight signaling a job well done! Drive time!

I bought my first MBZ in1979 - a 1967 300SE Cabriolet that was one of 53 made in the last year of production. (Yeah, that's me in L.A. in front of my photo studio) I kept if for 42 years and finally sold it.
I used the money to buy both a Toyota Highlander and this 2015 SL550 with 21K miles. Photo is on the Alpine loop road on the way to Sundance resort.

Streamliner, I went online to find out what it was worth. I started to get inquiries and low-ball offers. Two brokers started to send offers and phone calls. Peter Kumar of 300 Gullwing in N.Y. - I ended up selling it to Alex Manos of Beverly Hills Car Club. He has a list of cars people want him to find. He doesn't restore them, just moves them. I sold it for $65,500 in not running condition. It looked the same but the Transmission had issues with the secondary pump (no 2nd & 3rd gear), my Burreled Walnut wood under the windshield and the speaker grill had been stollen. I didn't want to spend the $$ and mental energy restoring it, so I bought the SL550 to start over.

We had been shopping for a few weeks for an SL. My wife saw a blue one on the showroom floor. She said that she had narrowed the selection down and now we were looking for a BRILLIANT BLUE SL450. It was really her car and no other color was in the search after she saw the blue. A few weeks later, we found this one that was coming to MB off a lease. The rest is history.... have been extremely happy with it.
