Rear Window Cleaner
I just have to share that after three years of owning the SL, I have finally found a product to make cleaning the inside of the rear window a much easier process. For three years, I have contorted, cussed and cobbled to try and get the rear interior glass as clean as the rest of the windows. But my arms are not long enough, nor is my body young enough to reach all of the spots. But I now possess the Griot's Garage window cleaner set. A simply brilliant swivel head on a long handle that uses a microfiber cover to clean the window. And just like that my car is acceptably clean to me for the first time. If any of you have experienced the same frustration, this little tool is well worth the investment. Heck, it works on the windshield as well. Why did I not know sooner!

The 231's inside rear window is indeed 'a bear' to clean, so this should make it much easier.
You can order the Griot's Garage Set (shown) or just a window cleaning tool through Amazon!

I have one of those. I actually got mine back in 2002, when I had my Lexus SC430. It is a very useful tool.

I have one of those as well but admit I don't use it. I just lower my top half way which makes cleaning the rear inside of the window not bad.

I have one of those...found it useless as it is not flat (slightly concave). However I have always used their car window cleaning solution and it is fantastic!

I imagine that it would be somewhat easier to access the inside rear window glass by 'interrupting' the vario folding top's process midway through it's cycle. However, that said, I doubt MB would ever suggest or recommend doing that just to reach the inside glass for cleaning purposes...
I would personally worry that repeated mid-cycle 'interruptions' might cause some kind of problem with roof operation, given all the micro-switches, actuators, and motors that are involved in with the opening and closing process.....
So...Thanks for the additional suggestion, but I think I'll just stick with the long handle 'cleaning brush' method whenever the inside rear glass of my 231 needs some attention!....

The was a MB supplied stick for the SLK that held the roof open for servicing etc - many SLK drivers made the same thing out of a broom handle.
I open the SL roof halfway to clean the rear window but it can and does fall into the boot / go forward under it's own weight. Clearly a risk of injury if it goes backward. I'm looking into making a pole to keep the roof propped open (so weight biased toward the front) as theSL glass roof is also very heavy compared to the SLK roof.
