SL/R231: Ash tray cover won't close

Ash tray cover won't close
The spring loaded door that closes over the ash tray and 12v port will not close on my 2008 SL550. Is there any wisdom out there on how to get it to latch?

You're in the wrong SL Class forum, try the SL Class 230 forum for your 2008 SL instead and maybe you''ll get some responses! This is the 231 forum which is for 2013+ SL Class vehicles.
