SL/R231: Analog clock backlight?

Analog clock backlight?
Does the analog clock option have a backlight? I've got this clock in my 2013 SL550 and noticed the clock is not illuminated when the headlights are on. Not sure if this is poor planning on MB's part or a defect...comments?

Sounds like your analog clock just needs a bulb replacement. If a fuse was blown there would likely be some other 'electronic issue' inside your car...perhaps something else that isn't illuminating when it should, or simply not working properly in some other way.

Well, everything else lights up correctly. I'll have to see if the clock pops out to get to the backlight bulb. Easier to do myself than to return the dealer.

Are your dashboard lights set very dim? Perhaps that is the problem.

Once in awhile you can get an 'electronic glitch at startup' that rectifies itself the next time the car is started. This is more likely to happen when the car has not been driven for awhile.

A final follow up on the clock backlight issue. What I have determined is the backlight is not controlled by the headlamps being on or not. It is controlled by COMAND switching into night mode.
