IGNORE LIST

As a service to other members I’ll point out a useful feature that was part of the BMW forum I used to frequent, and just discovered here as well - the IGNORE LIST. Click on User CP at the top left, then Edit Ignore List. You can now enter the username of any members you wish. Click Save Changes and now all posts by said member(s) will remain hidden unless you click View Post. It’s really a shame when such a feature becomes necessary, but it works like a charm.

Don’t take the OP the wrong way. This forum is full of good people looking to exchange information and ideas with other like minded people - I’ve learned a lot from them and am grateful. But there are one or two that seem only to be interested in being needlessly and repeatedly argumentative in a mean spirited way, belittling others for having different opinions in an effort to prove their own superiority. So this mechanism is for self defense only to help avoid this kind of discourse.

Anyway Gordon, unless your profile is inaccurate, you’re in the wrong forum.

The Sword...

Hi Bob: If I pick up the sword in defense of someone, it's not the same as falling on it. "Falling on the sword" is what a soldier might do when facing insurmountable odds, knowing if he was caught, he would be tortured to death. I am simply fighting to reverse an injustice. No one is served by banning PMercury. He has harmed no one on this board. You aren't punishing him--you're punishing the rest of us who would no longer benefit from his knowledge. If he was banned because he fell out of step with the rules, then change the rule or hold out a hand to help him regain his footing.
I contacted PMercury for help after reading most of his posts, without any knowledge that he could help with my programming problem. I never saw his "advertisement". In fact, I've posted several comments on this board recommending parts that I thought were of particular value, and endorsing the services of others who were helpful. It didn't occur to me that a pinhead had written rules against such things. It's enough that in my profession, I deal with suffocating bureaucracy from jurisdictional agencies almost every day. I shouldn't have to deal with it when trying to fix my car. Please don't say "he broke the rule--my hands are tied". He isn't the Christ--neither should you be Pontius Pilate.
I never met PMercury, but I can attest to his knowledge about Mercedes Benz, and his work ethic.
Respectfully,
LS

You may be misunderstanding the function being described by the OP. What he is describing has absolutely no effect on the standing, ability to participate, or anything else within the MBWorld forum. Instead, it blocks a particular user, or users, from showing up to the particular user that blocked them.

For example, it you find my posts offensive and block me, only you will be kept from seeing my posts in the future. Everyone else will continue to see my posts and can continue to participate in discussions with me. No one but you will ever know that you have blocked seeing my posts, unless you rant about it in your posts. I won't even know.

No problem. It’s not accessible if you’re using a mobile device, which is probably why you couldn’t find it. It’s there if you log onto MBWorld with your PC/Mac.

I’m using Safari on my iPhone and I can get the PC view of MBWorld if I select “Request Desktop Website”. Then I’m able to find the feature.
