Not today but coming up in 6 weeks.

The so called NC500. A 500 mile loop from Inverness (Loch Ness Monster country) around the northern tip of Scotland. 7 nights / 8 days, stopping at famous old castles, scenic spots etc and single malt distilleries.

SL550 & MGB

Here's my SL550 in Estes Park, Colorado and my 1st roadster, a 1964 MGB purchased in 1966. How times have changed -- I purchased the MGB for about what a set of SL tires costs.

QUOTE]

I had a '67 MGB GT (preowned & I acquired it in about '82) - It was a real old rust bucket but lots of fun. I should have held onto it as (unusually) it had an automatic gear box and was quite rare. My wife and I toured large parts of the UK in it (she was about 7 months pregnant and did not enjoy getting in and out).

My SL is also White with a Bengal Red interior - I purchased mine new and @ 3 years is still a thrill to drive. We has been to Ireland, France, Germany and Scotland in it and as above are going back to Scotland this year and Spain& south of France later in the year. It is always a head turner wherever we go.

As a California native, I’ve watched my state deteriorate in so many ways. Add to that, the unbelievably insane real estate prices, over the top income & property taxes and you wonder why anyone would want to live here. Well, today was a one of those days that makes it all understandable. Crystal clear skies, brilliant blue water and 65 glorious degrees of bright sunshine. Who wouldn’t want a convertible? Hope you are all doing well.

Beautiful! I assume that is Catalina Island in the distance. In the late 1960s, a friend and my wife and I flew over to Catalina in his single engine plane -- the approach to the runway is pretty scary -- right above the cliff and the runway is not level. I remember him calculating what elevation we needed to be halfway across the ocean so that we could glide to a runway in case of an engine failure.

I am always in envy over those wheels! Love the look, and the view. Thanks for sharing, and for paying those taxes!

You know, it’s crazy. I have owned or leased just under 100 cars in my lifetime and this is the very first set of non-stock wheels I have ever purchased. I had a few sets of custom wheels, but those were already on the cars when I bought them used. The brakes, wheels & tires have transformed the car for me and I’m just thrilled with it.

Had it out again yesterday, along the coast in Huntington Beach.

Exactly !! Very nice pic.
I love my Polar White SL63 - the Night Package and the AMG titanium wheels really enhances the presentation.

Corona Virus Mental Health jaunt; today, down the Natchez Trace Parkway for about an hour, and then back. Beautiful day, top down, not much traffic, although with a 50 mph speed limit, stretching the legs requires a bit of planning and a good radar detector. Just love the view down an open road, smooth asphalt, great turns and elevation changes. Fun day, just had to share!

This view never gets old!

Nice place to let the car run!

A great drivers road way, when not too crowded!

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Your trees are actually green! They are still mostly bare here in the Denver area, still some snow later this week in the mountains. Still OK for an occasional jaunt with the top down as you have done, although we are still under a "stay at home order" for a few more days.

You are killing me with your posts! Here on the Texas Gulf Coast we have been green for over a month, already hit 90F on two days and have already bailed the first round of hay for the year.

Gore Range, Colorado

Well, another photo from Colorado while on my birthday cruise, April 27th. This photo was taken of the Gore Range from the Ute Pass road, between Silverthorne and Kremling along Rt 9. We had a spectacular drive over 10,600 ft. Gore Pass north of Kremling which is a must tour if you are in the area. Of course, traffic is light these trying days but we traveled 25 miles or more and encountered no vehicles going in our westbound direction and only 3 vehicles going eastbound. Temperature in the 70s. The paved road contains smoothly flowing turns which are a kick to drive. And the scenery is beautiful -- spectacular in the fall with the golden aspen.

Was this a one day cruise or did you stay overnight? I am curious if you were comfortable staying at a hotel, B&B, etc.? Also did you take your own food or stop at restaurants that were open? I assume none had seating available. Here in MD our cases and deaths have not started to decline so we are still supposed to stay at home. Be safe.

Gordon - great pic - particularly appreciated the recommendation for a Fall drive to see the Aspens ... That is on my "to-do" list ... Thanks.

OTE]

We have a good friend that lives in Boulder. It was on our to-do list for this year (I also want to get to Pike's Peak). For one reason or another (mainly births & deaths) we have been unable to travel far for 3 years now. Hopefully next year willl be better.

This was an easy 4-5 hr. cruise from our main home in Frisco where we are under a "safe at home" order -- north to Kremling on Rt. 9, west over Gore Pass, south to I-70 and Vail, east home to Frisco. So we did not need a hotel, etc. We simply took a picnic and stopped at one of the rest areas. Had no contact with anyone except a wave or two.

Summit County which includes Breckenridge, Frisco, Copper Mt., Dillon is under an order that "prohibits short-term rentals from operating until May 31."

The "stay at home" order in CO was lifted over the weekend except for the Denver area. For sure we are completely "self quarantined" and in fact when we return to our retirement community patio home in the Denver area we must quarantine for 14 days. The only contact we've had other than ourselves are several curbside pickups of groceries and a couple of Amazon deliveries. Being in the vulnerable age group (I turned 75 yesterday), we are being very cautious -- masks, gloves, sanitizer, etc. I doubt if we emerge into the public until July -- and maybe not then. I hope all of our bloggers stay safe and healthy.
