I’m always on the high side. In 2016 when I sold my ultra low mile 2004 SL500, I got beat up on the R230 forum for my $25K price, when the cars were routinely selling for $15K to $18K. But, I knew there must be at least one guy out there looking for something special, and I got my $25K.
A couple of weeks ago, we sold my wife’s mint, loaded, 2016 E350 sedan for well over KBB and the buyer was thrilled to get it.
I realize that the SL450 is different, since brand new cars are still out there and because of the very expensive upgrades. But, if someone really wants a 450 with ABC, and really loves my colors, the upgrades, etc., then my car is a no brainer. Maybe I’ll find that buyer, maybe I won’t, but it is something to talk about, isn’t it?

I also "sold" my ultra low miles 2003 SL500 (without distronic) for the same $25K in late 2014 directly to a dealer as a trade-in (gave me an additional $1.5K tax benefit and avoided private sale hassle) for the limited edition MY 2015 SL550 (which I had to pay MSRP for anyway, regardless of trade-in).
