SL/R231: Magic Sky dark spots

Magic Sky dark spots
Has anyone had any dark spots in the magic sky they've noticed? I brought the car in (under CPO warranty) and they told me they wouldn't cover as they labeled it under cosmetic defect. Is this something others are experiencing?

Hard to tell without any pictures.
If the spots don’t change clear/darkness level when pressing the button it would be considered a functional defect and you could make a case on replacement (which will be pricey)

Without pics only you can tell if it's cosmetic or functional. CPO warranty is unfortunately more limited than a new car one but I would actually read through the conditions to confirm their statement,

The color does not change on the dots. It's obviously harder to see when it's the dark solar blue. I'm out of my CPO warranty now but have only been to that one dealership about it.

While under warranty, the claim could have been made that the electro-chromatic roof is not functioning properly and thus the issue is more than cosmetic.

I had the CPO warranty when I brought it in for it about half a year ago. They told me it wasn't covered and called it a cosmetic issue. Now the warranty is up. Think I could bring it in to another dealership and retro back to when I brought it in last time (when I had the CPO)?

Completely agree! We had this on all three SL's. We live in MN and actually put snow tires on the car so the roofs had to endure the extreme temperature variances in the state (from 100 degrees high humidity in the summer to 20 below in the winter). Zero issues.
