Joining the community and noob question

Hi everyone!
Last year I bought an amazing SL500 2012 with only 60 000 km (37 000 miles) on it.
I've got couple other cars in my garage but Slavik (that's his name) is particular favourite of mine.))

His got all the options (even B&O music) except the magic sky.

Now my Noob question:
I can only operate the roof at speed below 5 km/h (3 mph) while its said that it could be operated at speed up to 40 km/h (25 mph).
I found an old thread but it ended up with nothing.
Any new info?

First off, congrats on your new SL and welcome to the forum!

The roof likely works correctly; the function is just very picky. This was improved with the facelift model. Think of this in 2 steps. To initiate the roof opening while driving (1) and to continue opening the roof while driving (2). In order to initiate the opening you must stand still or barely move (1). Once the roof is starting to open you can continue driving slowly (2) until fully open. I thought that was below 35mph or so. If you drive too fast while to roof is being stowed, you will see an error on the instrument cluster and have to stop to complete the operation.
