can't move her
Hi guys, I need some help. Took the sl 550 on a trip. Glad I made it back! She is in the garage. Went to pull her out and give her a bath and she won't budge. Kind of reminds me of my x wife. She is telling me " Service required do not shift gears, visit dealer", she also says "transmission not in P risk of vehicle rolling away". Tried everything on this site then bought an icarsoft. Fault code is P179C49 The control module "direct select" has a malfunction. There is an internal electrical fault. This is ism shift module A80 .Control unit ism-can continental MB part number 0054461910 for a 2015 sl 550. Tried to clear fault with no luck. So my question is, can I buy this part, can I replace this part with some degree of ease? The car is up in the garage and would require a lot to get her to the dealer. Thanks for any help. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this site and want all to know I have saved a lot of time and money by joining.

check your aux+main battery voltages, history of shifter area (coffee spillage etc…), and ISM
It has been reported that ISM can be damaged from not putting your cars e-brake on when parking on hills.

Wanted to give an update. The car fixed itself. Obviously it was moisture in the cup holder that did it. I simply put an extra, chilled bottle of water in the passenger cup holder. Sad to think that disabled the car for seven days.

Unfortunately, I’ve never been blessed enough to have an electrical problem fix itself without cropping up later and becoming an intermittent issue. 🙁
Keep us posted if it ever comes back. Hopefully it’s a fluke…
