I am considering purchasing a 2016 SL AMG 63. Any thoughts good or bad?
thx
I replied in the other thread, but to get more replies I think you need to add a little more context. First Mercedes or had several? Intended use? Buying with or without warranty? Miles on car? Etc...

Great cars and great value at the moment, but yes you're going to want an extended warranty, between the convertible mechanics and the AMG performance parts. Text or call me at (602) 909-9216 or send me an email at tgibson@highline-autos.com for a quote and example contract on a Complete Manufacturers Extension policy from Freedom Warranty.

Well, you just have to decide if you need all that horsepower, the stiffer ride and the much more expensive upkeep. All that performance is meaningless, if you never unleash it, which would make me always wonder just how the previous owner(s) unleashed it. Massive burnouts, crazy redline sprints, etc. Then, of course, one might think about fuel prices these days, which are meaningless to some and a nightmare to others.
For me, I would much prefer a newer, 2017+ 450 model. The smaller engine gives the car a nimbleness that the V8 cars cannot touch. Bottom line: if you have not yet driven the non-AMG models, do so before deciding. In my case, I was dead set against the V6 until I drove one. It changed everything I thought I knew about SL’s—and for the better! Good luck.
It's a 8+ month old thread where the OP made a couple of posts and then disappeared. It's probably a safe bet that (s)he didn't end up getting an R231 of any variety.
