It appears to be a week or less away as per my insurance company. Starting to get antsy...

Anyone looking to purchase a car out of state, I highly recommend Lemonsquad.com for inspections. $179 for a ridiculously comprehensive inspection. Very happy with their service, saved me a huge headache with first choice.
Curious about this Lemonsquad.com. Given the complexity, specialized nature and expense of a Mercedes SL why they be a good choice over a dealership or independent Mercedes garage?

I can't clarify why they are a good choice over another inspection option. For me, they provided a service that was extremely comprehensive and to my personal satisfaction. Anyone is free to use whatever service fits their preference, I just wanted to recommend an alternative option. They saved me a huge headache with the first car I was looking at and to me, that was worth sharing.

I don't think anyone is saying they are better, just that they provide another option, especially for first-time Benz owners.

Every Benz I have owned has previously owned cars. And with every one, I learn new stuff, like $160 wiper blades for the Magic Wipes option (or whatever it's called--sounds like some kind of toilet paper). I can see Mercedes marketing sitting around to come up with a name for these really cool wiper blades that squirt the washer fluid out through the blade itself. I sure hope they last longer than conventional blades.

EDIT: The wipers are called AquaBlade, not Magic Wipes. My bad!

The Mercedes windshield wipers are called Magic Vision Control.

Is that different than option code 874?

Mine has this feature listed both ways: on the window sticker it's 'Heated MAGIC VISION CONTROL wiper system' and on the build sheet it's '874 AQUABLADE INCL. HEATED WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM'.

Take your pick, I guess.

Awesome! I knew all this magic stuff sounded familiar.

I'm still having trouble with Magic Sky Control to make bad weather go away. No matter what buttons I push, I can't make it stop raining. Maybe there is a delayed reaction, like using Mercedes me to unlock my car, because eventually it does stop raining.

Done Deal, hope to have it by end of next week

Mods as soon as it lands...red calipers with black Mercedes script, muffler delete, all chrome wrapped gloss black, as well as the lower middle of front bumper. On the fence about adding V8 Biturbo logos on fenders. Would never put any AMG badges on it, but since this is a V8 Biturbo, I don't feel like its being a poser. Will 100% chip it in the near future and will use either Pressertech or Renntech.

I don’t see how you drive top down on 40 degrees days. I just don’t. I have seen men in other convertibles driving top down when to me it was clearly too cold outside to be doing so.They thought so too, because they ALWAYS had on a big coat, hat, or tons of layers. I’m not freezing just to have my top down, warmers days are coming.

63 outside is the lowest I go and that is with the air scarf, heated seats and heat blowing out the vents. I am plenty warm with a long sleeve shirt on and I have room for more heat if needed, but even with more heat on standby I would not think that driving that much cooler than 63 degrees outside would be a warm, or a pleasurable experience. At 63 I fell like that’s the minimum for me.

Yes, everyone is different and more power to ya, but don’t be the guy super red and shaking from cold in the car with the top down. Lol.

Thanks to Airscarf, I experience the joy of driving on a chillly (40 degree) day with the top down and feeling absolutely snug. Much better than sitting at a stop light in 90+ temps and high humidity trying to look relaxed. It is such a joy driving in cooler, dryer temps with the top down. One of my favorite things about my SL.

1. He lives in Miami. Errr, Mississippi.
2. Maybe it was 70 degrees when the picture was taken.
3. I will only put the top down when it's 68 or warmer, and that is in full sun. (I'll put the top down below 68 if I'm not moving, the sun is out, and there's no wind.)
4. I'm sure nobody thinks I'M a dork driving around with the top down in winter (like those guys in BMW convertibles).

EDIT: Oops! I thought you were addressing the OP.
EDIT #2: Forget it. I totally screwed this up. Yeah, jrupp, you're nuts! 😛
EDIT #3: Maybe he didn't mean 40 degrees American. You know, maybe he meant 40 degrees the rest of the world.

As you say, everyone is different and I agree that seeing someone bundled up and shivering while tooling around with the top down looks a bit silly. BUT with the SL if you crank the heater, turn on the airscarf and the heated seats you can be quiet comfortable. The caveat is I always wear a cap of some sort, due more to the fact that I am follicly challenged. Now...I don't put the top down often when it's in the 40's, it has to be the perfect day, but I think there's a lot of good top down driving to be had between your 63 and my 43 temperature.

The Biturbo badges always call a bit too much attention. However, the muffler delete is going to make the car a LOT more fun. Enjoy it!

With the windows and air screen up and heater/scarf running I find it totally fine. Even my generally freezing wife is totally fine with the top down- her limit is 40 degrees though. 63 is downright balmy...

I cut the mufflers off of my E550 Coupe and it sounded nasty(in a good way). Looking forward to making this one roar as well.
