2013 SL63 AMG
Back up camera question

Hey guys...

I’m have a 2013 SL63 AMG. My property is a side of a small mountain...my house being about 75 feet above the road surface. The driveway is vey steep and is rather narrow, with no way to turn the car around once I make it all the way to the top. I choose to back up the hill to park, so that I can pull out forward down the hill when I leave, instead of backing down the hill. The problem I have with this routine is the heading at the top of the screen when the backup camera is switched on. It reads something like “be sure to check all surroundings before backing up”. Those words block vital areas of the road when backing up the hill. It would be better at the bottom of the screen over the bumper...as it wouldn’t block any road area at all in any reversing scenario. Is there any way to either change where it is on the camera screen or remove it all together via the diagnostic port and an editing/programming package. My 2008 Touareg uses the VAG COM tool which I have...I’m not sure what the equivalent for the SL is. Whatever can be done to move or REmove the text I will do. I’m guessing it won’t be easy to remove it completely, as MB will probably require this as a safety “requirement”. 😩😡🤬

Thanks, in advance, for any help!

75’ elevation in Florida! You must be at the top of a mountain!

Sorry I can’t answer your question, but the VAGCOM equivalent in the MB world is a tool called SDS/DAS/XENTRY. Google it.

Reach out to a member called @crconsulting . He knows everything! 😁

Haha, I only appear to "know everything" because I try not to waste too much bandwidth by posting nonsense
plus I worked for Mercedes, so there's that...

Anyways, You may be able to code it out thru XENTRY/ Vedeamo, though I've never had to or tried doing it. I know calibration is available thru XENTRY alone.
Without Xentry, you can access some camera functions in the engineering menu. Depending on your NTG version/firmware. I've seen some cars you can enable/disable the grid lines. (Euro Cars?)
It might be worth a shot....
There is a thread on how to access to engineering menu here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ed-thread.html

On my R231(SL550), the options are grayed out. Your car being an AMG, may have more access. You can also change camera type from Advanced (RVC2.0) to standard (SRC) to see to that changes your access. Just remember your settings!!!
(don't muck around too much in there as you can really hose your car!)

Good Luck!

Well, no one ever sent me the memo.

By the way, you should change your location to Mercedesland.

Thanks JR & CR for the responses...sounds like solid info! I fully understand how easily one can fubar their rides with port tools like XENTRY/Vedeamo or VAG COM; no worries here as I am a back it up each time before touching ANY setting guy. 😜 I greatly appreciate the pics as well!

Again...my gratitude. 🙃
Peace!
