R231 Camshaft Sensor Question

I am new to this forum. I just purchased a 2014 SL550 last week. While going through this site I find threads on the camshaft sensor oil issue. So I went out to the car and tried to remove a connector and inspect for oil migration. After flipping up the white locking clip, I could not pull the connector off. Am I missing something? I do not want to break the connector. Is there an additional clip or something? Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome
this is a good read for connectors and how they function. (see post #4)

Those connectors can be a bit tight if they haven’t been off in a while. But don’t go ape on them. 😀
Good Luck

It takes practice to get those connectors off reliably.

it’s a release-squeeze-pull action

release the locking clip

wiggle the connector and gently push it toward the sensor, in the direction of installation

while gently pushing the connector toward the sensor, gently but firmly squeeze the locking clip

while squeezing the locking clip, lightly wiggle and slowly pull the connector off

Repeat this process until the connector is removed. Don’t force anything.

Wiggling frees the dust and grime that may be present. Pushing and wiggling helps to release the locking clip if it hasn’t fully released yet.

Yes, I found oil in two of the connectors. quite a lot of oil. I have an extended warranty that covers the sensors and wiring harness if it gets to that. No oil in the computer.
