SL/R231: What Are SL Seats Coated With?
We bought the car from MB lease. The car was more clean and detailed than any I have bought. The only thing I could find was a smidgen of grime when I extended the seat belt that they missed. What a bunch of slackers...LOL. They did a perfect detail job.
I wear jeans a good bit. I wipe the car seats down quite often with them being a sort of off-white. Any residue always comes off but it seems like I have to apply more elbow grease than I did a couple of years ago. I understand MB put a special UV treatment or seat treatment on the cars when new. I wonder if it is wearing off????? I don't know.
Looking for suggestions for what MB used...or maybe some suggestions for something to help with the protection... I am scared to just start putting stuff on them without knowing what the heck I doing- and I don't. Any help/experience is appreciated.

Here’s a decent article that may help:

I use Colourlock from Germany made specifically for Aniline leathers.
As always apply on a small section that isn’t visible first, to make sure the results are acceptable….
I have used their Mercedes specific Porelain dye on a couple of cars and it’s fantastic. Perfect match if applied properly.

Great info. Thank you. The link to the Porcelain dye is something I will someday need if we keep the SL. Our knees are getting older and.........
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I feel as though I should do something and could not find much in the owner's manual. Porcelain (white) is something that scares me. I have never had a car with white seats and the MB porcelain intimidates me. You should have seen my face after driving it with jeans on....LOL.... I bet I could sell that photo.
We really like the Porcelain look with the Brilliant Blue Metallic exterior though....but scary to have white interior.
Thank you, sir.
