It is a convenient way to swap tunes, but I'm pretty sure it is VIN-locked. It may be worth checking with the new owner to see if he wants to buy it, if you have his info.
Correct, the unit is married to the vin of the car. Otherwise anyone could simply keep passing the unit around between friends. It will have to be updated to a new vin#/car.

According to OE Tuning.... "The MyGenius will be married to your current car and VIN. MyGenius coded to our system will only work with tunes purchased from OE Tuning.
If you remove the tune from the current car by flashing the ORIGINAL stock tune, it can be reused without purchasing the $150 VIN unlock. Once RESET all files are wiped from MyGenius, and you can reuse the device."
