SL/R231: Hello All....
And today I became the owner of an immaculate 2014 SL400 AMG Sport with 39K miles on it. I know it's baby version with "only" the 3.0 V6 twin turbo motor, but here in the UK fuel is extremely expensive, so that will do me for now.
I do intend to do as much of my own maintenance on the car as I can do. I am faulty handy with the spanners and have a couple of Harley that I work on all the time. Clearly, this is a much more complex vehicle, so I will also be building a relationship with a nearby independent MB specialist. I am going to try and stay away from main dealers as much as possible.
Anyway, the independent dealer that I bought the car from delivered it today. There was a bit of a bonus as they also replaced the rear brake pads and disks, the windscreen wipers and the wheel centre caps with new genuine MB OEM parts prior to delivery. Top marks for an attentive dealer. It also came with a nearly brand new (300 miles) set of Pirelli P0 tyres, so that's good too!
Not much else to say right now apart from Hello. I hope I can learn a lot about this car from this forum, and also hopefully contribute to it.

One question, what is a Is that a special class across the pond, or something? Or do you mean an Sl 400 with the AMG sport appearance package? I looked at my build sheet and it says (951 Sports Package (USA) Aren't you in the UK?
As I understand it, when they deleted the SL350 normally aspirated 3.5L V6 and replaced it with the twin turbo 3.0L V6, there was originally only one trim level here and that was called the SL400 AMG Sport. Basically a body kit, wheels and (I think) drilled brake disks and different springs. I am not 100% sure to be honest....
My build sheet shows "950 - AMG Sports Package", "770 - AMG 19" Spoked Wheels with mixed tyres", "U26 - AMG Floor Mats" and "772 - AMG Styling Package, Front Spoiler, Side Skirt"

Here in the USA I have never seen an SL without the AMG Sports Package.(cosmetic stylings) I don’t think it comes any other way??
