Part number I show for SAE USA Tail Lights is : A2318200364 (left), A2318200464 (right)
There appear to be connector and wiring differences (to the SAM) between The SAE spec lights and EU spec A2318200164 (left), A2318200264 (right) lights.

Curious that the German tail lights have both part numbers on it. If that's the case then the conversion should definitely done be done in the US. This was, the OP could sell the US tail lights here. Even if the car comes back, the Euro tail lights can stay on; plenty of people running with euros lights here...

USA version also has both part numbers in casting
They probably use the same casting but change the connector and LED’s
They have different part numbers only designated on the stickers (note SAE vs ECE)
USA /SAE version with both part numbers also.
