I have a set of 19”&20” with tires from my 2018 gtc and wonder if this set will fit my 2017 SL63 ? The rolling diameter of gt tires is 1.9% larger than OEM on SL.

They may fit but need spacers to make the stance look right.

SL 63 forged wheels: Front 9Jx19 ET27, Rear Wheels: 10Jx20 ET48
GTC wheels : Front: 9Jx19 ET61, Rear Wheels: 11Jx20 ET68

I think the SL could take 305 on an 11" rim with a 20mm spacer. Without it you may have liner rub...

2013 SL63

Forgestar CF10 in Gloss Charcoal custom Finish

2) 20x9.5 et 21
2) 20x11 et 44

2) 265/30/20 Continental Extremecontact Sport 02
2) 305/30/20 Continental Extremecontact DWS 06

Lowered 1.5" on links

No rub and no fender rolling. Could actually go to a 315 without any rub in the rear - 325 would more than likely require a little massaging.

Nice set up and looks great. However my question was “ my OEM wheels on 2017 SL63 are 19/9 ft with27et? Rears 20/10 with 34 et” will my tires from gtc
fit the r231 2027 car with original wheels. . No wheel swap just tire swap.

Your question was not clear. Tire swap is a no-brainer. In the rare event that you would experience inner liner rub, you can add spacers to the SL stock rims. This is something I recommend anyways as they are a bit too inset in stock form.

So original wheel bolts have deep enough thread reach even with a +20mm depth?

No. Most good spacers come with the appropriate length bolts - Check your wheel bolts if using OEM wheels as Mercedes uses ball seat bolts instead of conical seat bolts.

Really good of you to go digging for the info. I will get the tires swapped from GTC wheels to SL 63 wheels and follow up with the results. Maybe the info will help the next guy.
much appreciated

H&R makes 20mm spacers that use the stock bolts as the spacer is bolted on with spacer bolts (see pic). This is a pic of our old SL with the AMG forged rims and 20mm spacers...
Other thickness spacers require longer bolts as mentioned. Bolts come in 5mm increments, so always go longer. For example an 8mm spacer gets a 10mm longer bolt.

FYI I finally got my tires installed and to fit 305’s rear and 265’s front on 2018 sl63 per the MBW blogs recommendation to use H&R 20mm spacers.
BUT spacers are Not needed for any mechanical reason. IMHO the spacers made the wheels and tires extend beyond the fenders and will result in damaged paint similar to what happened on my GT C.

The 305 tires alone make the car wider by 20mmm already so you have to take that into account when selecting spacers.

The normal way to measure the need for spacers is to install the desired wheels/tires and then measure the gap between fender lip and the widest part of the tire. A level works well for that.

There will be no damage possible if the tire is flush with the lip (provided the car isn’t slammed) . The tire should never extend the fender.

20mm worked for me as we had stock tires

Wider tires and spacer conclusion. Because 305’s and 265 fit perfectly on 2019 sl63 without spacers, I called Vivid for RA# to return spacers and longer bolts and mailed parts back to them on Jan 12th. 2024. After dozens of emails and phone calls I finally after 5 weeks without refund choose to dispute the charges. The communications with Vivid’s phone holds and the near daily auto computer trash emails has left me with a poor opinion of the company.
