Shouldn't "Random Medium", when selected on COMAND, play music from all available sources, i.e. USB, SD Card, HDD and cellphone (if connected)? I'm finding it only plays from the source that's playing when I make the selection.....

While absurd to discuss the "Rear Seat Entertainment System" for an R231 SL, the "Random Medium" description is there. It seems like Random Medium means that everything on a particular medium (CD, iPhone, etc.) is played randomly, whereas Random Track means tracks within a folder of audio recordings (if one exists) are played randomly.
Thanks for the tip. It's in there, just before the section on the Rear Seat Entertainment System.

EDIT: I thought you were just trying to be funny. But it's actually there!
It can be both true and funny.

Like I said, it is in there, and I did read it. Where I had assumed "Random Medium" meant randomly among mediums it means randomly within a medium. For me, this seems no different than Random Track Sequence, but that's just because I didn't create subfolders.
I really did think I remembered seeing songs from different mediums (i.e. stored locations) being played; I have so many songs stored in each location I often forget I stored them and sometimes I regret doing so, and I've glanced at the screen to ascertain where it is so I can delete it later. Of course this might just be another false memory infiltrating my conscious. Take it from me: the things you forget are not nearly as troubling as the things you remember that never happened!
