Hello everyone,
I have just noticed today that my rarely used Magic Sky roof is no longer opaque when on.
I do not remember if it’s supposed to block all light or some light.
Can this roof get weaker, is there an ajustement to control the intensity.
Today when I turned it on I did notice a difference in the light coming through but unless I am mistaken it used to block 100% of the light.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
SLDoug
Thank you for your input.
if my memory is correct, when it was on, I could not make out building or trees or the outside world but now I do.
Am I wrong, yes it reduces sunlight but it used to block out more,
thanks

BenzNinja says that the module that is controlling the amount of voltage is probably failing and needs to be replaced and coded to restore what you had.
I will check mine tomorrow and try to post some pics.
When in block mode I cannot see anything on the outside via my magic sky. When in unblocked mode I see out like a clear and normal window. There is no adjusting the intensity of magic sky. Check the condition of the 12v battery in the car, because when that is going bad many things can go wrong....

Ok, here are some pics I took this morning.
1. The first is before I started the car. (Very dark)
2. Magic Sky off (1st push). Car on, engine running. (Clear)
3. Magic Sky on (2nd push). Car on, engine running. (Darker than Clear)
4. Car off. (Dark, but not Very Dark)
Transition to Dark is not instantaneous. I suspect that over time, it will continue to darken. I assume that voltage on makes it clear and voltage off allows it to darken.

I also noticed that the roof did not immediately lighten when I turned the car on, but only after I pushed the button. It does go clear immediately, but darkening takes several seconds.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your pictures with me, it’s appreciated however it does not tell me why it’s no longer opaque and how to fix it
Best regards to you

Right. I was showing for comparison purposes. Mine has never been 100% dark. And as I mentioned, @BenzNinja says it's the control module that is going bad on yours and needs replacement.

Thinking about this more, it appears that the roof darkens without power. It may be that you do not actually go to 0 V when pressing the button to turn off the tinting. Pulling fuse #71 would be a way to test if the control module is going bad or if the roof glass is going bad. I would pull the fuse and see how dark the roof becomes.
Car on, cloaking activated lol
next pic is car on cloaking deactivated.

Just ran a test of the Magic Sky Control module to measure voltages and whether there was adjustment to the tinting. The roof is darkest when Magic Sky Control is OFF (Deactivated) and the voltage is 0 V. The roof is clear when ON (Activated) and voltage is ~120 V. Also, with the proper scan tool, any fault codes (there are 19 or 20) will be detected.
@SLDOUG if you really think it is not as dark as before, check first thing in the morning as it does take several hours for the glass to completely darken. Get a LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ and scan for any codes.
